On why I haven't written lately

I took a break from blogging. Sometimes I feel vulnerable that I share so much about my life here. At these times it helps me to keep quiet.

I often feel torn between wanting to write deeply personal things and keeping it light. Mostly it comes down to my fear of what people will think about me.

But if I look at that fear, I see that it is what keeps us all so separate and alone. Perhaps sharing our humanity is the healthier thing.

The break did me good anyway. I thought about this strange hobby I've grown to love. I realized it's when I share a particularly personal story that I feel a bit less lonely in this world.

  1. I'm glad you're back! I missed your posts. It's a struggle for many of us, I assume...how much to share, what to say. But it's your personal space and just remember you can say whatever you want, whenever you do!

  2. Welcome back. It is good to take short breaks. It recharges your batteries and improves your creativity. I really love your stories. And they are what most of us go through at some point in life.

  4. You've been missed. I was actually thinking of sending you a message to make sure everything was alright.

I cannot tell you what to do about vaccines for you and your family. However, I am in FNP school and I deal with nurses and advanced practice nurses all the time. We've also had a couple of our students come down with H1N1. Our professors today emphasized to us to get both vaccines for ourselves as well as our family members. Especially important for those folks that are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or have small children at home. As for our household, as soon as we are no longer feverish, we'll be heading to the health center for our flu vaccines and then later to get the H1N1 vaccine as soon as it's available. Email if you want any more info or any any questions.

    Be well!

Oh, the clouds absorbed some water from here recently and I think it's headed your way. Be advised!

  5. Glad to see you back.

I struggle with the same thing... wanting to share the not so happy, pretty stuff, but still keep things light and fun.

But you are right... sharing the darker stuff is a welcome release.

  10. oh kim. you write so well, and i can completely relate to this post. it is hard to open up and let it all hang out, but sometimes it really helps. and sometimes it does make you feel more connected to the people in this big, wide world that can feel so lonely at times.

i hope you are doing ok. i really do. :)

  12. Sometimes it is when I am most vulnerable and say things that are decidedly not flattering to me that people jump in with love and support. It's my favorite thing about the blog world.
