Book worm
Deaglan loves his books. I hope it means he will love to read. I do. And I try to read to him a few times a day. Lately I've noticed him imitating me. He opens a book and then points to the words with his finger. That's how I read to him. He has a pretty good attention span when I'm reading to him. Reading has always been a great love of mine. Now that I'm back to work it's been harder to do. That was one of the many best parts of mat leave. I read all the time.

I read to Jamie all the time, and she could read on her own when she was three! In grade one she read at a grade three level, but by the time she was eleven she stayed at her own age group level.
ReplyDeleteOh man, that's so cool.
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I'm really looking forward to when it's time to have a child is writing stories and reading them to him/her.
I think if I saw him/her picking up my reading quirks I'd just sit there and stare in awe.
Reading is such a great way to spend time with our kids. Deaglan sounds like he is well on his way to becoming a wonderful reader. Pointing to the words shows how interested he is in following the story. I'm always amazed when my little girl goes through the reading motions when she looks through her books. She doesn't know how to read yet, but she is enjoying the story in her own way. I don't get to read to her as much as I would like, but I do surround the kids with books. I love the puzzle pictures of Deaglan too :)
